We pray this reaches you while you are in the best of health and spirits; and if not, We pray that Allah ta Ala will improve your health and uplift your spirits.

We are reaching out to you because as you may or may not be aware; February 27th, 2015 marks the date, 40 years ago, that Allah blessed us with Imam W. D. Mohammed as our leader and teacher. He began at that time moving us from the teaching of the Nation of Islam and into the teachings of Quran and directing us to follow the life example of Muhammad the prophet (PBUH). We're sure you will agree that we have been so truly blessed.

For 40 years we have benefited from the insights and teachings of Imam Mohammed. Among those insights is that 40 is a number that represent maturity. For example, Muhammad (PBUH) was 40 when he received revelation, Isa (AS), fasted for 40 days, The Great Flood lasted 40 days and 40 nights and Moses (AS), and his people wandered in the wilderness for 40 years. (Interestingly enough, Imam Mohammed often referred to himself as Moses and said we were his people).

The reason that We mention this is that we believe that after 40 years of the benefit of Imam Mohammed’s teachings, we should be mature enough now as a community to stand on our own two feet and establish the community that Imam Mohammed worked so hard to bring into existence. It’s time for us now, after being remade as a people, to remake the world! Alhamdulilahir Rabilalmin!

Since this February date is so significant, we feel that it would be truly tragic if we didn’t do something to honor our Imam on this day.

As a result, we have planned here in Kansas City, a program during this “Black History Month” to honor and celebrate the Life and Legacy of Imam W. D. Mohammed. The program will be Themed – “ The Making of A New People – 40 Years of the Leadership of Imam W. D. Mohammed”.

The plan for the programon the 27th is to showcase a short highlight dvd film of Imam Mohammad’s contributions and accomplishments, hear testimonials from his wife, Khadijah Siddeeq-Mohammed, Father in Law Muhammad Siddeeq as well as members from our community, members of the interfaith community and public and political figures who are familiar with and share an appreciation for Imam Mohammed and his works. Further, we are planning to create a program booklet with information about Imam Mohammed as well as a copies of the dvd presentation that will be shown to give away to those who come out to the event. We also plan on having a workshop on Saturday, Feb. 28th discussing our history, our present situation as a community and our goals for the future.

Where do you come in? We're asking you to be one of the sponsors for this event. As a sponsor we are asking you to donate any amount you can to help offset expenses for this weekend. We need to raise a total of $3,000 to pay for venue, plane tickets for Khadijah Siddeeq-Mohammed and her father, hotel accommodations for them, printing of flyers, and the program booklets we intend to give away as well as copies of the dvds we want to give away. All Sponsors will be listed in the program booklet as well as acknowledged and thanked during the program.

In addition to this program being a great way to honor our Imam, we see this also as an excellent opportunity for da’awah.

Please consider our request for your assistance. True students of Imam Mohammed understand that any good we do is for the good of our own souls; However, please know that we will greatly appreciate any and all help that we receive from you.  We are resolved that I will make sure this program is a success. And we know that Allah will provide the help we need as long as we continue to move forward with faith and work hard.
